Krummhörn-Rysum, East Frisia, (Krummhörn), Germany
Disabled-friendly holiday flat with garden
In the heart of the idyllic terp village of Rysum lies our completely renovated holiday home, 2 kilometres from the North Sea. The 90m² flat offers space for 2-4 people and is ideal for wheelchair users and people with walking difficulties. The beautiful garden with a spacious sun terrace invites you to linger. There is a spacious car park for your car right next to the house.
Rysum is 10 km from the seaport of Emden and 17 km from the famous fishing village of Greetsiel. There is a bakery just around the corner and if you don't feel like cooking, you can treat yourself to culinary delights in the "Rysumer Plaats", where the historic mill also offers East Frisian tea and sultana bread on Saturdays. There is also a cosy farmer's café on the outskirts of the village with home-baked cakes, and Rysum is home to the oldest organ in Europe. In 2012, we celebrated its 555th anniversary with a medieval market and many wonderful organ concerts. Music lovers in particular get their money's worth in Rysum. Every last Saturday of the month, the Fuhrmannshof organises a world-classical piano concert - as you can see, there is a lot to discover in this small town of 600 souls. But it's best to see the charm of the original round village for yourself.
Location description: The travel magazine "Geo" has named Rysum one of the ten most beautiful villages in Germany. A jewel among the beautiful villages in the North Sea region of Krummhörn. An East Frisian idyll worth experiencing and Germany's cultural heritage. Historic Rysum: Visitors always go into raptures at the sight of the village centre. Red brick houses with lovingly tended front gardens convey an atmosphere of tranquil cosiness. Stately farms, crouching farm labourers' houses. In the centre is a church with the oldest playable organ in Northern Europe (1457) and a beautifully restored mill (1895), which still uses the North Sea wind as its driving force today. Until the 19th century, Rysum was a manor and chieftain's seat. Lively Rysum: The classic round village of Rysum has a diameter of only 400 metres. Small alleyways (Lohnen) invite you to stroll and linger. Bakery, village pub, restaurant, café. There are also classical piano concerts in a Gulfhof farmhouse, art exhibitions and, on the first Sunday in September, a farmers' market that is famous far beyond the town's borders. Rysum is alive - and loves its guests. Award-winning Rysum: The town was voted the most beautiful village in Lower Saxony in 1998 and is located in the north-west corner of Germany. Around 10 kilometres behind Emden, Greetsiel, 17 kilometres away with its large fleet of shrimp boats, borders the local Krummhörn to the north. Natural Rysum: When clouds fall from the sky! The infinity of the horizon turns the vastness into a haven of peace. Rysum offers more: walking and cycling paths along the North Sea dyke, through a landscape of unrivalled flora and fauna. Protected nature reserves in the Lower Saxony Wadden Sea National Park, a resting and breeding ground for a diverse bird world. And sheep, always sheep. Rysum in brief: Politically, Rysum belongs to the municipality of Krummhörn (postcode 26736), which was formed in 1972 from 19 formerly independent villages. Since then, 18 villages and the fishing village of Greetsiel have formed the holiday, art and cultural landscape of Krummhörn. Rysum has 748 inhabitants (as at 31.12.2006). Head of the village: Hans Böke, pastor of the Protestant Reformed parish: Dr Holger Balder, Rysum interest group: Ekehard Jaspers, Source: Website of the municipality of RysumOther sports and leisure activities : Hiking, jogging, cycling, swimming, the Emder Friesentherme offers a great sauna area and a swimming pool.Garden and outdoor facilitiesGarden equipment : Garden shed, garden furniture available, barbecue
