Rømø is surrounded by the roaring North Sea. The Wadden Sea has Denmark’s most fascinating natural areas. For centuries, Rømø’s nature has captivated people. It was first occupied by fishermen, then by the wealthy sea captains (who caught whales), as the beautiful and charming restored thatched houses will testify. These are admired even today by holidaymakers. Due to its unique nature and the expansion on the island, Rømø has the widest and finest sandy beaches in Europe. Quiet and secluded spots perfect for relaxing can be explored on the beach even today.
